Summer Edition 2010

This is the poster for Summer Edition 2010. It’s an artists book, comic and zine fair we are organising with our friend Phil Barrett. Here’s all the info:
Summer Edition is back for 2010! The Artists book, Comic and Zine fair is happening again at Filmbase, Curved Street, Temple Bar on Saturday July 24th from 11am – 5pm.
This free event features over 40 exhibitors from Ireland and the UK showcasing the best in independent and self-publishing. All the exhibitors create, design and produce their publications themselves and the fair is a unique chance to see the diversity and originality of book arts happening in Ireland today.

Bookmarks 8

I am taking part in a bookmark project called Bookmarks 8 – Escaping the Library System. It is organised by the people at the Centre for Fine Print at UWE in Bristol. All the artists involved make 100 bookmarks and then they are divided into packs and distributed to venues for people to pick up for free.

Here’s my contribution to the project – pylon bookmarks!

Rectangles of Embroidery

I wanted to try out some embroidery on the sewing machine and this is what I came up with. Still work in progress I think.

Pylon Sketches

A man I met on a train recently said that pylons are a blight on the landscape. But they carry electricity around and bring it to the cites where we live. I guess people want both unspoilt countryside and fully lit cities. I quite like pylons though.

Pylons

paper cut-out pylons

Photographs of some pylons I made recently. A lot of people aren’t that into pylons but I think they make great lines. They criss-cross all over the place and they frame the landscape with all kinds of unusual shapes. Let’s hear it for pylons!

New artists book

Here’s some pictures of a little book I just finished. The cover is embroidered felt and the inside is hand-drawn with markers, pens, pencil, watercolour paint and colouring pencils.

2009 Update – Just what I always wanted

The lovely lads from the Comic Cast asked me to put a piece into a Christmas Show they were putting on in the Twisted Pepper. The theme was ‘Just what I always wanted’  and here’s what I came up with.

2009 Update – The earth is a bit like this blue dot

The Earth is a bit like this Blue Dot. A book of general musings about human evolution and the problems associated with consciousness.

Really though, its just some black and white line drawings and some blue dots stapled together. It comes in a handy size of about 14 x 14 cm.
